Top 5: 3VS

3VS may not be a name you’ve heard of yet, but you’ll certainly know the three producers behind it; Monika, Akuratyde and Tellus have each already more than made their mark on the scene under their solo releases. To celebrate the release of their debut EP for None60, we tracked them down and asked for their Top 5 influences…and we even allowed them six so they get two each!

dBridge – Wijn Zijn (Feat. Kid Drama & Lewis James)
Akuratyde: All three of these artists show restraint in the right places. This one does a lot without overdoing it, and the chords take me to another place.

ReDraft & Kid Kun – Gunman
Akuratyde: I love the way this song effortlessly combines Juke/Footwork and D&B. It also strikes such a nice balance between chill and energetic vibes.

Haxan Cloak – Hounfour (Temple)
Monika: It sucks the listener in and has a meditative effect. I’d love to recreate that feeling for 3VS.

Space Dimension Controller – The Love Quadrant
Monika: This tune shows me that music can be funny, sexy, beautiful and poignant all at the same time. I use it as a reminder to never take myself too seriously!

Om Unit – Coridoor 2013
Tellus: I’ve had Om Unit’s album Threads on high rotation since the day I first heard it. It’s all killer but Coridoor 2013 is a particular standout, so driving and hypnotic.

Haraket – Taint (Djrum Remix)
Tellus: This was the first music I ever heard from Djrum. The track is so beautifully sad. I’ve always tried (and failed) to capture this same emotion in my own music.
