Get To Know: Beat Machine Records

Our first label showcase feature of 2021 takes a dive into the discography of Italian electronic label Beat Machine Records. While not exclusively focussed on drum & bass, between their main catalogue and the excellent Swinging Flavors 7″ series they’ve played host to a number of excellent hybrid bangers, melding footwork, jungle, D&B and bass for some really innovative releases. Read on for our favourites from the BM vaults…

Lynch Kingsley – Make Your Love [BMR009]

Showcasing the label’s knack for pairing homegrown Italian talent with high profile international remixes, this release is top quality from start to finish. Lethal delivers aggressive jungle-edged break-chopping while Make Your Love brings a chaotic exuberance to the table, and Om Unit rounds things off with a heavyweight remix.

Sun People – Swinging Flavors #1 [BMRSF001]

The first instalment of the Swinging Flavors series from Sun People sees the weird and wonderful Flowers taking centre stage alongside a dubbed out Moresounds remix. Stripped back halftime flex Rattle provides a tasty digital bonus.

Breaka – Swinging Flavors #7 [BMRSF007]

100% party-starting fire on this one from Breaka, and Danny Skrilla delivers a percussive masterclass on the remix to boot. Fiya!

Mani Festo x Denham Audio – To The Core [BMR018]

Six tracks of breakbeat badness on this one, with rave and jungle influences melted down with the influence of early dubstep for some serious speaker rattlers. Special shout for that TMSV remix!

Sinistarr – Swinging Flavors #6 [BMRSF006]

Detroit’s finest in the production hotseat for these ones, channelling juke and footwork influences into the sonic stew. Om Unit returns under his Philip D. Kick alias to provide a dangerously infectious remix!

Five of the best from Beat Machine! Be sure to check out the rest of the label catalogue via Soundcloud or Bandcamp.
