Blackout Tuesday

The violent murder of George Floyd, and the many black lives lost previously are an outrage, and we have a duty to not stand silent in the face of racism and oppression. Please join us as we stand with the Black community, not only in the US but worldwide, to demand change.

On June 2nd DNB Dojo will observe Blackout Tuesday, a day of contemplation in solidarity with all those struggling for justice and alongside the movement across the wider music industry. Going forward, we will be looking at how we can help further, and how we can better support Black musicians within the Drum & Bass community.

Guest Mix: Tellus

We’ve been watching Tellus for a while and we’re big fans of the projects he’s involved in, whether as a solo artist, co-founder of the Locked Concept imprint or one part of the recent 3VS project alongside Akuratyde and Monika. Naturally then we were really pleased when he agreed to record us a Dojo guest mix!

The mix is packed full of deepness new and old, taking in Tellus’s own work alongside beats from Stray, Moresounds, DJrum, Sorse and lots more, plus some unreleased dubs. It’s a lush musical journey through many styles of 170, and a thoroughly enjoyable ride.

Dillinja – Hard Noize (Break Remix) [Valve]

When it comes to updating something as classic as Dillinja’s Hard Noize you really want a safe pair of hands, and they don’t come much safer than Charlie Break. If anyone was well placed to give the track a new lick of sonic paint it was the Symmetry boss and scene stalwart, arguably the hardest working man in D&B.

Break’s remix retains all the spirit of the original (which, incidentally, still kills over 20 years on) but adds that modern punch to the drums, plus a few tasty switchups in the bassline for extra spice. Respectful but hefty; exactly the treatment we were looking for!

The flipside is no slouch either as Break presents his own ode to the Valve sound in the form of Tubes. Pure in purpose, this one is all bassline growl and gut punching snares, bringing to mind vintage Break tracks like Too Much. Dancefloor weaponry!

Drum & Bass Arena have put together something that looks pretty special – a feature length documentary about the genre we all know and love and how it has moved and changed over a 20 year period. Featuring some of the best known names including Goldie, Phace, Riya, Andy C, Spirit, Hype and many, many more, this looks like absolutely essential viewing. Legendary Russian producer and DJ Electrosoul System steps up to deliver our latest guest mix! With a 15 year career spanning releases for the likes of Med School, Subtitles, Fokuz, Spearhead and his own label Kos.Mos.Music, we jumped at the chance to get a fresh selection from a man we’ve long been fans of.

For this mix Andrey has gone in on a 100% Kos.Mos selection. Spanning everything from some of the label’s earliest releases right up to the present day and a few dubs to boot, and taking in everything from rolling liquid to amen bangers, this is a true 360 degree representation of the Kos.Mos sound. Wicked stuff!
