Dexta – Minirave / The Bunker [None60]

Dexta returns to None60 with two cracking new beats. Minirave lives up to it’s name, harnessing the sounds of old school hardcore and jungle for a chopped up raved out banger.

The Bunker sees Dexta teaming up with Gaunt for another track with more than a nod to the old school. Shadow Boxing-style basslines and junglist break chops meld with Dexta’s signature production for a nice groove, and a perfect complement to the more up front A side.

As usual you’ll be able to find this on the None60 bandcamp and all the usual digital stores; watch for the release from June 22nd.

Detail – The Way / Voco [Nemesis]

Ukrainian producer Detail brings his crisp, punishing sounds to Nemesis Recordings with two slabs of gritty, precise tech funk. The Way leads the charge with staccato bass stabs driving a rolling kick snare rhythm, while Voco goes in harder with an array of mean bass stabs and reese bass. Dangerous business! Check out the clips below and grab this one right now.

Future Tense EP [Turbine Music]

Dust Audio sublabel Turbine returns with a menacing selection on their latest Various Artists EP, Future Tense. Acid Lab leads the charge with creepy atmospherics on the intro dropping into old school break chops and reese bass. Love the tension on this one! Slider and Expose keep it grimey on the appropriately titled The Wrath…definitely some angst in the mix here.

Out into the back end of the EP we’re treated to sparse, militant halfstep from Akinsa and industrial tinged business from Antagonist. Deep and dark all the way. Check out the clips below and grab this one from your favourite digital store now!

Atic – Tuff Times EP [Free Love Digi]

Attentive readers may remember some coverage last year of Denver producer Atic‘s releases for Free Love Digi, which impressed us with a rolling techstep vibe. A year on, Atic is back with a six track EP for FLD featuring some tasty new tunes.

The work here brings to mind the likes of DLR and Mako, melding techstep heft with the more musical side of D&B to create tracks that balance atmosphere and dancefloor sensibilities to a very pleasing end. Favourite moments here at the dojo came on Blue MountainCritical Sound and Juil but the whole EP is well worth a listen. Check out the clips below and grab this one from Beatport right now – full release follows from June 15th.

Kairos – Ho2k / Walks of Life [Bay 6 Recordings]

Essex label Bay 6 are a new name to us here at the Dojo but definitely one we’ll be keeping an eye on in future. Their latest comes from Colchester’s Kairos who brings two deep, understated slices of liquid D&B to the table.

Ho2k layers up piano, soft pads and warm sub against a simple but effective 2step kick/click drum beat for a composition that feels effortless absolutely effortless. Walks of Life switches up the drums for a more shuffling rhythm set to a shimmering array of synths, once again keeping it understated but evocative.

Check out the clips below and head to Juno to grab these right now!

Nymfo – Brain Feeder EP [Commercial Suicide]

Nymfo returns to Commercial Suicide for a tasty new EP featuring four chunky slabs of D&B. Brain Feeder and BTK collab Shelter provide the dancefloor weapons while Planetarium and Shivers explore deeper territory, with lush synths on the former and deep bass and intricate percussion on the latter.

To quote the ever droll label press release, ‘Here we have you the next instalment of the “Nymfo releases music on Commercial Suicide” story. Gather around and rejoice this occasion.’ Rejoice indeed! Check out the clips below and hit up the Commercial Suicide bandcamp to get this right now!

Phentix – The Grim EP [IN:DEEP]

Austrian producer Phentix lands on IN:DEEP with a brand new EP featuring four fresh new cuts crossing the styles of D&B. When All Comes To An End and Dramatic keep things deep and moody, exploring the melancholy side of liquid with soft melodic sounds offset by tough edged breaks and brooding bass.

The Grim keeps things moody but with a techier edge, MC Kinetical’s verses landing smoothly between the sparse beat layout and grimey bass modulations. Last but not least, Storm closes the EP with a chunky tech roller that should shake a few systems and move a few dancefloors given half a chance. Check out the clips below and look for this at digital stores from June 1st.

If you want more from Phentix be sure to check out his mix for the DNB Dojo Mix Series! Deeper selections.

Posij – Binary Vol. 5 [Critical Music]

Dutch artist Posij supplies the fifth instalment of Critical’s new digital only Binary imprint, serving up four crisp, futuristic tracks for Kasra’s ever-impressive stable.

The EP strikes a nice balance between atmosphere and dancefloor heft, with lead track Techplant keeping things punchy but restrained and closing track Rover exploring some cracking drum edits against a backdrop of creepy atmospheres.

Spin and Change meanwhile provide worthy peaktime dancefloor fodder to give the EP something for everyone. Noisia’s influence can be heard filtering through these tracks, though thankfully they aren’t similar enough to feel derivative, and the level of stomp is difficult to argue with!

As usual you can grab this one from the Critical Store; check out the clips and get to getting!

Joe Ford – All Of Us EP [Shogun Audio]

Joe Ford returns to Shogun Audio for a big new EP delivering detailed dancefloor neurofunk in spades. If you’re expecting much in the way of surprises you’ll probably be disappointed, but the tracks on show here hold the same appeal of Ford’s previous material, leaning towards the heavier end of his sound.

Standout tracks for us here at the Dojo are the titular All Of Us and the absolutely brutal Icicle collab Crossbreed; both of these should slay floors without any issue at all. For those who like their 140 there’s also a cheeky dubstep bonus track featuring the vocal talents of Miss Trouble. Tasty! Check out the clips below and grab this on vinyl or digital now.

Total Science, Quadrant & Iris – Pushin Your Luck [CIA]

CIA are back, and that means only one thing – rollers! Label owners Total Science team up with Seattle production duo Quadrant & Iris for a weighty, old school roller on Pushin Your Luck, which wins zero points for innovation but 10/10 for being big, bad and generally dangerous!

Over on the flip Obsolete gets the VIP treatment, retaining the spirit of the original but adding some cheeky little rhythm and bass tweaks to dust the cobwebs off the track; worthy, but unlikely to trouble the A side for our money. Check out the clips below and grab this one from the CIA bandcamp right now!
