Fuj – Terror Firmer / Pressure Plates (Remixes) [AutomAte Deep]

Automate Deep return with a bit of tasty remix pressure as Dexta and Mtwn rework Fuj’s tunes from his previous release for the label. The Diffrent boss kicks things off with a half-time refix of Terror Firmer, all stomp and growl with an insistent riddim and bassline modulations taking centre stage against a backdrop of reverbed atmos and FX sprinkles.

Mtwn step up for the B side with a deep, dark re-imagining of Pressure Plates, stripping the tune back to it’s basic elements and working it into a twisted, dubby vibe with off kilter percussion landing left, right and centre. Check out the clips below and watch out for this one dropping at all good digital outlets from July 7th.

Bass Sheriff – Comedown / The Bot [Default Recordings]

New signing Bass Sheriff steps up with the latest release for Default Recordings. Comedown sees him teaming up with MC K Sound for a vocal-led techstepper that’s all groove and no messing around. Drums, bass and a catchy vocal hook, simple but effective.

Over on the flip The Bot continues the rolling techstep sound with a nice selection of robotic FX samples and an appropriately grimey selection of bass grunts and growls. This robot apparently knows how to roll out in style. Check out the clips below and watch out for this at all good digital outlets from June 23rd.

EP.2 [Blind Music]

Blind Music continue their anonymous sonic experiment with three more slabs of 170BPM goodness and no clue as to who’s been pressing the buttons. BLND#4 pushes the boundaries of the 170 sound with a stomping half-time beat, ominous pads and a catchy vocal sample. BLND#5 takes things tribal with more ominous synths, dark sub bass and an insistent riddim. Finally BLND#6 heads for glitchy, minimal territory with idiosyncratic percussion and some great sampling.

Check out the beats below and pick up the release from Bandcamp now.

Fourfit EP 02 [Soul:R]

Soul:R present the second in their Fourfit EP series with a diverse selection from some of the best names in the scene. LSB opens up the release with a shimmering deep liquid roller replete with beautiful strings, flourishes of piano and a crisp, rolling break. Silky smooth business.

Next up FD switches thing up with a grimey tech roller that ticks all the right dancefloor boxes. Anile raids the classic breaks and turns up the atmosphere for the appropriately titled Depths, and Kid Drama rounds things off by tapping into that serene Autonomic melancholia for a great slice of leftfield 170BPM action.

Check out the beats below and look for this one on vinyl and digital from June 23rd.

Eveson – Grey Dawn EP [Ingredients]

Ingredients return with a fresh new EP from liquid impresario Eveson. The opening track sees him team up with Halogenix for a moody stepper replete with deft touches, from the warm bass to the simple yet effective melodic flourishes and through to the vocal snippets which ice the cake during the breakdowns.

A Dystopian Romance heads for brighter, more rolling territory with uplifting synths, crisp breaks and more choice vocal highlights. Rounding the release off, Deluge drops the tempo for a soft, atmospheric breakbeat outing; pure armchair joy. Check out the clips below and watch out for this one dropping from June 23rd.

SR & Digbee – Level Up EP [36 Hertz]

SR & Digbee return to 36 Hertz with an EP plying their old-skool tinged D&B flavours. If you’re looking for deep and meaningful then you’ve come to the wrong place…if however you’re looking for dancefloor weapons, you’re in for a treat!

Nightmare gets things off to a slamming start with choice horror movie samples, heavy amens and massive distorted bass hits the order of the day. All the energy of jump-up but without resorting to ear grating duck-quack wobble bass. Nostromo follows things up with a rolling break and some serious sub action; you’ll need good speakers to get the most out of this one.

Harmony dials back the aggression a bit and brings in big floaty pad work in it’s place, keeping the energetic drum edits going to keep the vibe rolling. Finally Badbwoy Style rounds off the EP with another hefty amen workout and some great break pitching and glitching. Boom! Check out the clips below and grab this from your favourite digital retailer now.

Hyroglifics – Binary Vol. 1 [Critical Music]

Critical Music present their latest sub-imprint in the form of Binary – a digital only label that will seek to put out the freshest new music by embracing the speed and agility of the digital medium. The first release comes from Hyroglifics, who turns in three tracks at the cutting edge of the 170 sound.

Bay City Ballers Club melts down influences from Footwork, Jungle, Ragga, Dub and Hip-hop into a crazy bubble of drum syncopations and bass weight which is sure to resonate with fans of the latest beats from Sam Binga and Alix Perez. Killamanaman continues the trend as the sounds of LA Bass and Trap collide with the 170 template, massive synth lines giving the tune its character. Finally My Own rounds things out with a slightly more chilled out slice of Hip-Hop-esque beats with soft vocal cut ups and twinkling synths a plenty.

Check out the clips below and head to Beatport or Surus to grab this now, with full release following from June 16th.

Friction Vs. Volume 1 [Shogun Audio]

SGN-Friction-V'S-1-2400x2400

Friction gets his collab on for the latest single on Shogun Audio. The A-side features a rather forgettable dancefloor roller from the label boss and Total Science, but ultimately this release is all about Battle Scars on the flip. Fourward bring their growling bassline expertise to the table and the instantly recognisable vocal stylings of MC Jakes ice the rolling, techy cake. Check it out below and watch out for this dropping from June 8th on digital and June 23rd on vinyl.

Various – Multiverse EP [Renegade Hardware]

Hardware continue their unstoppable onslaught of neurofunk batterers with a fresh new EP of collabs from some of the biggest names on their roster. Maztek & Cern team up for the titular Multiverse, dropping big beats and a disgusting, squelchy set of bassline modulations. Next up regular duo Optiv & BTK get together with Cold Fusion on a techstep roller that harnesses the spirit of 90s sci-fi influenced D&B to great effect.

The pick of the bunch for me comes on Dose & Cern’s irresistible One At A Time – rolling breaks, tight atmospheres and a memorable vocal snippet combine for a lethal dose of dancefloor tech with some tasty drum edits for added flavour. Finally the label’s upstarts get together to close out the EP with a solid slice of glitched up neurofunk from Subtension, Trilo & Minor Rain. Check out the clips below and grab this on vinyl and digital from June 9th.

As an added bonus, Subtension has recorded a cheeky studio mix to promote the release and it’s packed full of fresh dubs from the man himself alongside tracks from the EP and cuts from the wider world of D&B, all with a rolling techy vibe. Check it out!

15 Yearz of Fokuz – Episode 1 [Fokuz Recordings]

Fokuz Recordings celebrates a mighty 15 years in the game this year and to celebrate they’ll be releasing six 12″s and double CD packed full of their brand of rolling, emotive D&B.

Kicking things off is Episode 1, three 12″s featuring a selection of the labels trademark liquid vibes. Command Strange’s Rocksteady gets the Lenzman summer remix treatment on the first plate, with Reds turning in a deep, warm roller on the flip. Plate number two sees Malaky deliver the soft strings and soulful vocals of Connected, while Impish delivers the more dancefloor oriented bassline modulations of With U. Finally the third single features the simple, infectious hook of Emery & Dreazz’ Things backed with a jazzy take on the old school D&B roller from Reds.

If you like your D&B musical and rolling it’s difficult to argue with the selection on offer here. Check out the clips below and watch out for these dropping from June 9th.
