Q&A – D Flect [Tesseract]
One year old and already sporting a quality roster of underground artists, Tesseract Recordings are just getting ready to drop their first paid release in the form of the Acid Rain EP Part One. To find out a bit more about the label and what they have in store this year, we caught up with co-founder D Flect for a quick chat.
Altered Perception – 1144 EP [PowerON Records]
Sam Altered Perception is a busy man. Between co-running five (five!) record labels and a nearly constant stream of new productions, we’re not quite sure when the man finds any time to sleep or eat.
His latest EP for 50/50 sublabel PowerON is some of his finest work to date, exploring the halftime D&B template with an emphasis on intricate percussion. Title track 1144 brings some serious bassweight to the party, growling away behind a plethora of skittering percussion inside a tight kick/snare riddim. Synchronicity takes things deeper, with floaty synths, heavy sub and almost drumfunk style fills driving the tune along.
Last but not least, Space Invaderz takes things in a ravier direction with old school stabs and a staccato feel to the composition. This one hits hard! The halftime style continues to prove an exciting dimension to the D&B sound, and we hope to hear more from AP in this style in future. No release date as yet, so keep your eye on the relevant Facebook feeds for news.
Altered Perception & Imprint – Weight EP [Rogue Beatz]
The ever prolific Altered Perception joins forces with Imprint for two bassy slices of dancefloor tech on Rogue Beatz. The appropriately titled Weight brings hefty bass pressure and a chunky rolling break to the table for a tune that’s sure to move some dancing feet, while This Joy strips things back a bit, playing with some interesting samples of the backbone of beats and sub.
Check out the clips below and look for this one at all good digital stores, with vinyl to follow soon!
Predatory World EP [Syndrome Audio]
Altered Perception continues his rise through the ranks of D&B with a crisp new tech-funk stepper dropping on the prestigious Syndrome Audio imprint. Blowhole opts for no-nonsense minimalism and delivers a solid slice of dancefloor worthy business, while on the flip Denis Underground serves up a chunky stepper with massive booming sub. Check out the clips below and head to Digital Tunes to pre-order now.
Remixes Vol. 1 [Sub:mission Audio]
Sub:mission plunder their extremely healthy back catalogue to bring us four fresh remixes for the label’s ninth release. Bossman Altered Perception turns in an upbeat, rolling remix of Quatermass’s Skycity, Rush Records chieftain Colossus turns his hand to Quatermass’s Entanglement and Dead Electrics’ Connected, and Quatermass gets in on the act to close things off a crisp new flex of Dead Electrics’ Girl. Check out the clips below and grab this from Digital Tunes now!
Q&A – Altered Perception [Alchemic Breaks]
Alchemic Breaks are busy gearing up for their first release later this month, so we thought it was high time to find out more about the operation from bossman Altered Perception. Read on for the low-down on the new imprint, his thoughts on the deeper side of D&B and how he came to be at the helm of no less than four labels!

With so many great freebies surfacing over the last few weeks we thought it high time to round up our favourites here at the Dojo. Last but not least Dojo head honcho Hex gives away an old school techstep roller in the form of The Law to celebrate 500 Soundcloud followers. Big distorted 808 hits and gnarly reese bass are the order of the day here, with a few choice samples from Dredd thrown in for good measure.
Q&A – Auzi [Terabyte Records]
Terabyte Records have been moving from strength to strength since their inception two years ago, with support coming from some big names in the scene and some excellent tunes gracing their catalogue. The latest release is no different, and sees the label revisiting their previous tunes for some new remixes from a host of artists old and new. We caught up with Terabyte co-founder Auzi for his thoughts on the release and the label’s ethos.
