Amoss celebrate 9000 followers on Soundcloud with a menacing amen smasher in the form of The Kirbis. Weird mid-bass reverberations and hefty, angular breaks characterise the tune with creepy tones adding to the tension in the bridge…lovely. Check it out and grab yourself a free download!

Dream Thief 4 LP [Horizons]
Horizons gear up to launch the 4th in their varied Dream Thief LP series, featuring a selection of cuts from the extended label family crossing the styles of drum & bass. Highlights include Amoss’ excellent MC led stepper Bleed It, DLR’s melodic yet techy Trading Places and the percussive intricacies of The Shield from Gremlinz & Rumbleton.
Elsewhere on Detail delivers possibly the most innovative track in the collection with his sublimely creepy Human Trust; glitchy percussion, deft sub throbs and some fantastic atmospherics combine to create a brilliant slice of leftfield 170. Finally for those who like a bit of deep liquid there are some nicely polished cuts from Eveson, Naibu and Nitri.
Vinyl lovers will find the LP available as a 4 track sampler and a further 8 track LP collection, while the digital buyers amongst you will be able to grab the files from all the usual sources. Check out a selection of the tracks below and head to the Horizons Store for previews of the rest and to buy your copy!
Amoss – Cranium (Dakosa Remix) [Free Download]
As a celebration of hitting 7000 followers on Soundcloud Amoss have handed over a tidy freebie in the form of the Dakosa remix of Cranium. With warm bass, natural percussion, and more than enough energy to move a dancefloor, this strikes a nice balance between the tribal vibes of Amoss recent Bumbaclart release for Horizons and the grittier techstep of their State of Suspension EP. Check it out below and grab yourself a free download!
Amoss – Bumbaclart / Dilate [Horizons]
It’s been a few months since the last Amoss releases dropped but far from slacking off it seems the boys have been busy in the studio knocking up some characteristically dark beats. Both Bumbaclart and Dilate showcase the stripped back style we’ve come to know and love from the duo, kicking in with crisp, tribal drum lines and tons of sub. Minimal, atmospheric and powerful, these are beats for the drum & bass connoisseur.
As if that wasn’t enough Andy and James have also recorded the latest Horizons Music podcast which features new cuts from Hybris, Fearful and Fracture alongside their new beats for Horizons and some amusing patter to boot. Check out the podcast below and grab the single on promo from the Horizons store.
Get To Know…Dispatch Recordings
Leeds-based Dispatch Recordings have been a steady part of the D&B scene for well over a decade now, with a well deserved reputation for releasing tough, rugged tracks from some of the best names in the scene. Never compromising their integrity in favour of current trends, the label has truly gone from strength to strength over the past few years with a couple of massive LP releases and a slew of singles and EPs to boot.
Early releases on the label saw tunes from the likes of Hidden Agenda, NOS and Q-Project taking centre stage, not to mention a rather tasty collaboration between Chris.Su, Stress Levels and Ant TC1.

Having gained this momentum, 2008 saw the label step up a gear with their first release from the mighty Break (collabing with Survival on the Sick/Warnings 12″). From here on in the discography speaks for itself, with a massive selection of great tracks from the likes of Hybris, EBK, Amoss and Octane & DLR (who’s 2012 LP Method in the Madness was widely hailed as one of the albums of the year).

All of this brings us up to the present day and the rather excellent release last month of Survival & Silent Witness’ LP In From The Wild. Every bit as high quality as the Octane & DLR album last year, and lavishly released on both vinyl and CD formats, the tracks below speak for themselves.
So if you don’t know Dispatch, sit down and have a browse of the back catalogue!
Amoss – State of Suspension EP [Dispatch]
Since it’s inception way back in 2001 Dispatch Recordings have been crafting a niche for themselves as purveyors of top notch grimey techstep, and their recent output from artists like Break, Sabre, Silent Witness and Dabs has seen the label go from strength to strength. Their latest release comes from Hertfordshire-based production duo Amoss, who have been absolutely carving up the scene recently with releases on Horizons, Inside Recordings and the legendary Renegade Hardware.
Crisp breakbeats and dirty, warping basslines are the order of the day here, but the EP retains a deeper vibe than the full on face-smashing neurofunk of producers like Noisia and Phace. The tracks also show an attention to detail lacking from some drum & bass – every kick and snare has been deliberately placed for maximum effect, and the atmosphere across the EP is dark and brooding.
