DNB Dojo Podcast #19 – May 2018

Today’s premiere comes courtesy of Melbourne electronic artist Seas of Grease. Taken from his debut self-titled LP, Sojourn provides an unusually uptempo interlude amongst a mostly ambient /downtempo album. London heads Sweetpea and Sicknote team up in the studio for our latest exclusive, laying down a tech-edged drumfunk riddim with tons of atmosphere and seriously tight percussive chops. Sick track! Look for this one coming on Addictive Behaviour’s brand new Rotation Part Three LP; the album drops at Beatport on Monday with full release coming two weeks after.

Hot on the heels of a great EP for Exit Records, Groves lands on Lisbon label Skalator this month and we’ve got the exclusive on lead track Clinik! Blending deep atmospherics with intricate drum rhythms, this feels like a love letter to the days of Photek and Source Direct…pure funk. Sirus returns to Detached Audio with a big new single and we’re hyped to be premiering the A side Arashi! Soft chimes, skittering breakbeats and rich pads on the long intro lulled us into a false sense of security on first listen, expecting a soft liquid roller; then the drop hit us like a ton of bricks! Serious amen hardstep business…savage bass snarls and machine gun snare rolls a plenty. Look for this one dropping tomorrow at Bandcamp and other digital outlets.

Today’s premiere comes from Leeds producer Ingot (previously one half of Bad Graphics) who lands on Austrian label Moshbit this month with some cracking sonic experimentations. Junkyard combines unusual halftime rhythms with soft female vocals from Kintsuku and driving sub bass for a truly unique take on the 170 sound. Look for this one coming May 4th via all good digital outlets…
Premiere: Glÿph – Forheit
Rotterdam label Blendits returns after a bit of a hiatus with a top new single from Glÿph, aka Belgian producers Clearlight & Owl. Providing the flip to heavier track Detached, Forheit goes in deep on sound design and atmosphere, building tension around the intricate drum rhythms and powerful sub. Cinematic business with enough edge for the club…just how we like it. Look for this one coming May 11th via all the usual outlets.
