Flexout’s latest sees Fearful teaming up with a host of his buddies in the scene for a five-collab extravaganza on the appropriately titled Collective Conscience EP. being big fans of artist and label alike we jumped at the chance of a premiere, so we’re extremely pleased to present the exclusive on Deficit collab State of Decay. Angular riddims, punchy drums and squelching basslines a plenty on this one as the boys put the “technical” back into techstep; vibes. Check it out and watch out for the release dropping everywhere from Mar 28th!

Premiere: dreadmaul – Vodou Priestress
Creepy atmospheres and gritty bass textures on today’s exclusive from German producer dreadmaul! Dropping soon via Leipzig label Boundless Beatz, Vodou Priestress combines a driving halfstep rhythm with layers of distortion, tribal drum fills and spooky leads to conjure some dark magic for the dance. Wicked stuff! Look for this one coming on the Dust & Bones EP from Mar 20th via all good digital stores.
Om Unit & Sam Binga – TransSiberian EP [BUNIT]
Frequent partners in crime Sam Binga & Om Unit return to their infrequent but consistently excellent “Trans Continental” EP series this month, delivering the 3rd and final instalment through their self-run BUNIT imprint.
As we’ve come to expect from these producers and this series of EPs in particular, this is another melting pot of genre influences as dub, grime, jungle and footwork are smashed together into a funk-laden boogie-stew across four playful tracks sure to put a smile on any bass connoisseur’s face. There’s certainly tons of variety too; opener Optimist Prime lives up to it’s name with a buoyant, victorious lead line set to a driving halftime clap groove, while 2000 Dogs melds squelching acid bass with some tasty jungle break chopping.
Fans of the crossover footwork sound will definitely enjoy Up & Under; a frenetic array of percussion keeps this one moving at a breakneck pace, while Baby Steps takes us way out with a glacially paced, spaced-out dub jam. Sick vibes all round from two of the most innovative names in the scene! Check out the clips below and hit up the BUNIT Bandcamp to grab a copy direct on vinyl or digital.

Dojo boss Hex is back with the latest in the monthly Dojo podcast series featuring 85 minutes of the best D&B to land in the Dojo inbox over the last month. As always we’re representing all the styles of D&B with bassy halftime, techstep, liquid rollers, minimal cuts and dancefloor neuro all featured in the mix. Brand new tunes from HØST, Klax, Mark Kloud, SCAR, Mikal, Dead Man’s Chest and many more…
You can check out the podcast via Soundcloud below or head to Youtube or iTunes to stream. You can also grab a download from Google Drive.
Premiere: Mark Kloud – Get War
Experimental jungle-tinged riddims a-plenty on today’s exclusive as we premiere Mark Kloud’s Get War. Taken from his new EP forthcoming on Vermont label Party Guy Records, Mark’s flair for experimental drum patterns is on full show here with a satisfyingly chaotic assortment of kicks, claps and breaks flying around the mix atop a layer of meaty bass vibration. Sick one!
Emperor – Dispositions – The Remixes [Critical]
Material from Emperor’s recent Dispositions LP gets the remix treatment on the latest release from Critical, and true to form the label have delivered a really interesting selection for the EP. For our money you should just ignore the Phace remix; as weighty as it is it’s predictable fare and far from the most interesting work we’ve heard from the German neuro powerhouse.
Klax on the other hand have absolutely excelled themselves with their remix of Made of Light, taking the original’s moody vocal and setting it to a halftime beat punctuated with grime-tinged synth swells and some serious bassweight. This one positively swaggers along as the synth lines stalk through the mix, and the energy levels are kept high despite the plodding drum pace; top notch mid-set switch-up material.
Ivy Lab are next up and once again on a half time flex, flipping Jounce around from a full roll neuro workout into a hypnotic, bouncing slice of intergalactic hip-hop that just oozes character. Smooth melodies and warm low end reverberations make for a serious head-nodder. Last up we’re treated to the softest of renditions as Made of Light gets the accoustic treatment, stripped back to nothing but Solah’s beautiful vocal and a moving piano line. Something a little different from the usual Emperor material! Check out the clips below and hit up the Critical Store to grab the EP on vinyl or digital now.
Premiere: Onism Qi – Fear Death Love
Today’s exclusive comes courtesy of our pals at Free Love Digi and new project Onism Qi! Representing the combined musical intelligence of Quentin Hiatus, Thomas B and Ghast and bringing the thoughtful, experimental flavours, their new EP Null Explodes is something of at treat.
Lead track Fear Death Love brings together a face melting bassline with tripped out melodies and quirky vocal loops, spread over a progression from halftime D&B, down to something vaguely dubstep and up again into a fearsome crescendo finale. Some tune! Watch out for the EP dropping 6th March at all good digital stores.
Premiere: Fractale – Listen
Neve’s The Dreamers imprint continues their impressive run of releases with a sick new single from Italian production trio Fractale. Listen serves up more of that 20/20 style bassy halftime swagger we’ve been enjoying so much over the last few months, with laid back beats and serious low end weight a plenty. Check it!
DNB Dojo Mix Series 45: Owneath
Ever since we first heard his riddims via his rather excellent entry in the Demand Selects EP series we’ve been keeping an ear out for more material from Owneath, so we’re really pleased to be kicking off 2017 by welcoming him to the Dojo Mix Series! Vladimir’s mix takes in experimental cuts from Stray, Abstract Elements and Eastcolors alongside tons of his own beats and a few unnamed dubplates. If you like your D&B deep, dark and eclectic this one is for you!
You can check out the mix via Soundcloud below or head to Youtube or iTunes to stream. You can also grab a download from Google Drive.
Swinging Flavors #4 [Previews]
We’ve long been fans of Italian label Beat Machine and their club focussed Swinging Flavors 7″ series so we’re pretty excited to share exclusive previews of their brand new release from Itoa! Jungle meets footwork with a sick remix from Keysound / Astrophonica badman Sully to boot, and these tracks are bringing a classic sound into 2017 with a nice modern twist.
Check out the previews below and keep your eyes peeled for full length premieres on the Beat Machine soundcloud between now and the release on Jan 26th. Hype!
