Klute – The Draft LP Sampler [Commercial Suicide]

Klute - The Draft LP Sampler

Klute explores his deeper side on his sampler for forthcoming album The Draft. Turnaround heads straight for deep liquid territory, characterised by tight, syncopated beats and epic, atmospheric synth work, with a warm sub line taking a back seat to the rest of the composition. Superficial Lover also delivers a tight slice of full-roll D&B, soft vocal snippets echoing over the melody as insistent breaks drive the tune.

Where the sampler really excels though are on the tracks where the traditional D&B structure is completely eschewed. Klute teams up with Naomi Pryor on the weird, psychedelic Give It All; eastern sounding samples and a bassline that could well have been made with a didgeridoo combine with trance-inducingly rhythmic percussion and some fantastic vocal work from Pryor. Perhaps the best track of all though is the lush, downtempo ambience of Birdland, taking natural percussion and sweeping synths to an entirely chilled out sonic height.

Check out the clips below and watch out for the sampler dropping September 30th, with the full LP following on October 14th.

Ed:it – Defects / Ideology [Commercial Suicide]

Klute’s Commercial Suicide imprint returns once again, this time with a techstep 12″ from promising up and comer Ed:it. Fresh from releases for Blu Mar Ten Music, Rooted Records and Alignment, the Nottingham based producer has come correct for Suicide with a pair of dark, rolling tunes with a dash of soul and plenty of character.

Defects leads the charge with an echoing vocal sample reverberating out over the chunky percussion and dark, warping sub bass. Over on the flip Ideology takes the beat to more stepping territory, setting the same warping bass style to calm pad work and a grimier vocal cut.

Both tunes do a great job of showcasing a duality with soft harmonic elements complementing the rough and tough techstep style to great effect. Check out the beats below and watch out for the release dropping September 2nd.

DJ Marky & Invaderz – After Midnight / Break The Spell [Commercial Suicide]

Marky & Invaderz step up to the plate with a pair of liquid rollers imbued with the sambass essence that made Marky’s name. Equal parts groove & funk, After Midnight serves up a silky smooth liquid beat embossed with understated synth work and tasty filter sweeps.

Over on the flip Break The Spell heads for more euphoric territory with an irresistible hook and a tougher break that’s sure to get the party moving. Make no mistake, this is the sound of your summer on Commercial Suicide, and one I fully expect to hear on the beaches at Sun & Bass this year!

Watch out for these two dropping August 19th on vinyl and digital.

Klute – Best Bits Not Over [Commercial Suicide]

Klute warms up for the impending release of his seventh full length with a cheeky sampler featuring a couple of seriously heavyweight rollers. On The A side Klute delivers an old school reese-led dancefloor beast, hopped up on hard snares and baying for blood. This one will be wrecking the floors at Sun & Bass this year methinks!

Over on the flip Invaderz give the VIP treatment to Take A Breath, giving the classic (and out of print) amen smasher a nice polish for 2013. Watch out for both of these dropping on vinyl and digital June 24th.
