Fourward – Countdown EP [Shogun Audio]

Austrian neuro powerhouse Fourward drop the latest release on Friction’s Shogun Audio imprint, coming correct with three fresh new slices of big room neurofunk. As with previous releases such as the Aftermath EP for Audioporn (which I’m still rinsing in sets!) the new tunes combine the team’s proficiency for tasty bass textures with hefty drum lines and a knack for dancefloor sensibilities.

While none of the beats on show here are necessarily pushing the envelope that far, they’re all masterfully constructed and sure to move a crowd, and sometimes that’s all you need! Check out the clips below and grab yourself a copy on vinyl and digital now!

New Blood Rising EP [Grindhou5e Audio]

NC-17 certainly knows his big bad neurofunk stompers and the latest Various Artists release on his Grindhou5e Audio imprint shows he has a bit of the A&R in him to boot! The EP features a selection of dancefloor weapons from up and coming producers worldwide and the quality is difficult to argue with.

All the tracks are solid but highlights for me come on Mr. Explicit’s old school reese tearer Dementia (a proper throwback to the early techstep/neurofunk of a decade ago), Fade’s dub-infused How I Do and the angular riddims and stabbing lead of Everest’s Citadel.

The release is out now on Beatport so check the clips and get to gettin!

Delta Heavy – Apollo EP [Ram Records]

Ram Records have long been the kings of the polished, big room D&B sound where the bight of tech and neuro cross over with the energy of jump up and the sheen of liquid to create a sound that’s difficult to argue with in many ways. Their latest EP from Delta Heavy sits very much in that vein and while it may not be the cleverest selection to see the light of day in recent years it certainly makes up for it with sheer production quality and dancefloor vibes.

Apollo gets things off to a flying start with huge a huge bassline, rolling beats and melodic swells all coming together for a full spectrum workout. The World Is Yours drops things down for a more rhythmic workout with a little more euphoria on the breakdowns and less teeth on the bass. Last but not least Badboy Style combines an old skool reese bass line with some distinctly trap infused beats and a hint of old skool rave for a tune that’s sure to polarise opinion; this one’s a bit marmite folks.

Check out the clips below and grab this on vinyl or digital from your favourite store now. Watch out for Delta Heavy on the road over the next couple of months too – they’re playing a string of dates in Australia, Europe and the USA between now and the end of June.

Headroom EP Part 5 [Viper Recordings]

Viper Recordings serve up the latest installment of their Headroom EP series with fresh new tracks from tech and neuro producers across the scene. Sadly Prolix’s Ringtone Raver proves a bit one dimensional (especially compared to the superb tracks on the recent Project Trendkill album) but elsewhere we’re treated to solid dancefloor business from Trei, NC-17 & Soulculture and Insomniax.

The highlight of the EP by a big stretch though comes on KG’s Woodblock Riddim, combining a tribal percussion line (with, you guessed it, woodblocks) with some tasty mid bass growls and some excellent atmospheres. Check out all the tunes below and grab the release from your favourite digital store now!

Mob Tactics – The Wasted EP [C4C]

Mob Tactics follow up recent releases for Tactical and RAM with an EP of dancefloor killers for C4C Recordings. Wasted gets things going with a nice retro tech lead, blending the energy of jump up with the production and grit of the tech and neuro scene. Unbalanced follows it up with a pulsing sub line and some tasty reese growls.

Lifer aims for the chest with some pretty aggressive midrange modulations, while Grinder rounds things off with a solid slice of rhythmic neurofunk business. Despite the emphasis on dancefloor vibes there’s still more than enough detail and finesse to give these tunes lasting appeal. Check out the clips below and watch out for the release dropping Monday 31st via all good digital outlets.

Dose – Mind The Future LP Sampler [Commercial Suicide]

Commercial Suicide wind up for the release of Kiwi producer Dose’s debut LP with a 12″ of his best work since his two singles for Subtitles in 2012. Both tracks provide the sort of heavy hitting dancefloor techstep that Dose has always excelled at manufacturing, and will doubtless get a few floors bouncing over the coming months.

It’ll be interesting to see whether the album holds any surprises, but even if it’s more of the same it should be a blast! Check out the clips below and watch out for the sampler dropping on digital and limited edition vinyl from March 17th.

Teddy Killerz – Big Blow [ProgRAM]

Teddy Killerz latest release sees them take their foot off the gas slightly compared to the face melting material they’ve built a rep with, but that’s not to say this EP is lacking in teeth, just imbued with a little more subtlety. Big Blow kicks things off with a nice combination of classy piano and slow drum rolls on the intro before the main drop kicks in with a familiar D&B impact and some nicely modulated bass.

Jackyl & Hyde heads for more familiar territory with MC Coppa on board for the ride but to be honest it just doesn’t have the punch of other Coppa tracks like On Like That or Pocket Full of DropsEra meanwhile makes great use of atmospherics and heavy techstep kicks and snares for an angular workout. Lastly Una Mattina closes out the EP with a bright, trancey lead, swung beats and a wobbly bassline that it’s difficult not to enjoy. Check out the beats below and grab this on vinyl or digital now!

LM1 & Rogue State – Floorplay EP [Offworld]

Offworld head honcho LM1 and Translation boss Rogue State have teamed up for the latest EP on the former’s Edinburgh based label and the result is three finely crafted tracks of dancefloor friendly yet deep and interested D&B.

Floorplay combines a hypnotic techno-infused melody with top-notch percussion and a driving rhythm, while Salvation takes things darker with tough amens and some evil sounding samples that recall 2004 era techstep. True Face rounds off the release with a dark brooding, roller, once again imbued with some really detailed drum programming. Check out the beats below and grab yourself a copy now from any good digital outlet!

Warehouse Music [Chronic]

Recently relaunched V Records sister label Chronic Records is back with a bang with Warehouse Music, a 24 track compilation showcasing a great selection of D&B with a CD mixed by Bailey to boot.

Stylistically the compilation leans towards dancefloor friendly material, with rolling tech, old-school jump up and rolling modern jungle making an appearance. Bladerunner delivers a classic jungle-tinged roller on Lockoff, Capone hits us with the old skool stabs on I’ll Be Your and Command Strange’s infectious and recognisable Disco Ball finally sees release.

Elsewhere there’s tons more on show including beats from Optiv & BTK, Serum, Nitri, Need For Mirrors and L-Side. You can check out the tunes below, and the full compilation will drop on CD, vinyl and digital from Feb 24th.
