Premiere: Out of Fuel – Ghosts

Time for another Translation Recordings exclusive as we present Ghosts, taken from the forthcoming EP by Finish duo Out of Fuel. As you’d expect from the enigmatic Translation this is deep, dark and moody, with tight percussion filling out the otherwise sparse halftime composition. Gully business!

Look out for this coming Aug 29th via the Translation Bandcamp.

Escape EP [Blackhill Production]

We’re always thrilled to see smaller labels keeping the vinyl release alive so the news of Blackhill Productions first 12″ release put a big smile on our faces, doubly so when we heard the tunes gracing the wax!

Mexico-based producer Joakuim turns in two tough, moody rollers for the A side while label favourites Soundia and Plastiks each contribute a track for the flip; picking favourites here is tough but suffice to say if you like your D&B dark, techy and precise you won’t be disappointed at all!  Check out the clips below and hit up Bandcamp to grab the EP on vinyl or digital right now.

Premiere: The Corpus – El Niño

Another brand new exclusive for your listening ears! Lithuania’s Eternia Music have reached their 20th release and one of the most potent tracks comes from relative unknown The Corpus with a fantastic take on the halftime sound.

Radiant synths shine though on the intro, giving way to crisp percussion and an industrial tinged bassline; some serious weight on this one. Out now at Bandcamp!

DNB Dojo Mix Series 36: Dreadmaul

MixSeries36_Dreadmaul

The Dojo Mix Series is back and this time we’ve got German underground producer Dreadmaul in the mix! With releases for the likes of Authentic Music, Boundless Beatz and T3K, Dennis Leick has been carving out quite a reputation as both a producer and DJ, gigging regularly across his native Deutschland.

His mix for DNB Dojo builds slowly from deep halftime numbers through harder techstep and into dangerous, threatening amens including Dojo favourite Destroyer of Worlds. Sick selections!

As usual you can check out the mix via Soundcloud below or head to YoutubeMixcloud, Hearthis.at or iTunes to stream. You can also grab a download from Google Drive.

Dojo Damager: Robyn Chaos & Fortitude – Broadmoor Blues

The latest from Therapy Sessions Recordings is our Dojo Damager pick this week as label boss Robyn Chaos teams up with frequent collaborator Fortitude for an unusual slice of darkstep D&B.

Ominous guitar tones and the influence of bands like Tool and Lacuna Coil characterise the sparse, beatless intro as Robyn’s vocals build tension leading up to an absolutely savage drop; relentless business! Whether used as an intro tune, a mid-set breakdown or an end of night closer, this one is a guaranteed weapon for any dancefloor with a taste for the harder beats. Check out the clip below and hit up the Therapy Bandcamp to grab it right now.

Fortitude – The Incumbent [Harder & Louder]

If you like your D&B on the menacing side and you’re not already familiar with Fortitude then this release should be more than enough to whet your appetite. His latest work for Russian imprint Harder & Louder provides a miniature tour of the harder styles of D&B, and the tracks on show are top notch all round.

Red Shift kicks things off with a slice of dark, breakbeat-driven tech reminiscent of the golden era of Dom & Roland. Sci-fi-tinted pads, crunchy bass and tough but precise percussion; yes please! Incumbent ups the ante, bringing the bass to an animalistic snarl and adding a layer of distortion to the chaotically chopped breaks.

Last but by no means least, Succeed Control provides a dirty little roller that harks back to the time when neuro meant dirty bass and funky drums, not the level of precision and sheen currently associated with the genre. Nice! Check out the clips below and hit up your favourite store to grab a copy right now.

As usual you can check out the mix via Soundcloud below or head to Mixcloud, Hearthis.at or iTunes to stream. You can also grab a download from Google Drive.

Coma – Burn The Past EP [Flexout Audio]

The latest release from London imprint Flexout sees Coma stepping up to the plate with a four track EP full of deep, dark flavours and some tasty collaborations.

Gritty tech minimalism is the order of the day here, with plenty of crisp percussion and grimy bass to drive the tunes along. Dionysus is one of the obvious highlights, combining the swaggering vocals of Sense MC with an ominous combo of kick, snare and heavy sub.

Out into the back side of the EP there are also some slick collabs with Arkaik and Semitone, and overall this is a tight cross-section of murky tracks for those who like their D&B threatening and minimal. Check out the clips below and hit up the Flexout Bandcamp to grab the release right now!
