We’ve been big fans of Monika’s music ever since we heard his early output for Ingredients, so we’re extremely pleased to serve up the premiere of one of his new beats for Soulvent! Double Down showcases the man’s talent for hypnotic melodies and crispy breakbeats, evolving from a low start into chaotic amens and increasingly rapid lead flourishes. Sick! Look for this one dropping Friday 23rd via all the usual outlets.

Xorcore – Number Stations LP [Rekkt]
Israeli producer Xorcore is back this month with his first LP release for Rekkt Rekkords, and the release features a great selection of tech-edged D&B and a couple of tidy remixes to boot.
Struct kicks things off with the album’s heaviest track, laying down a dangerous neuro banger, but Dead Zone immediately switches things up with hypnotic synth lines and deep sub bass; moody roller vibes. Other highlights include the glitch and IDM influenced later tracks Out of the Machine and That’s All, both of which show a talent for complex arrangements and sonic detail.
Number Stations is a powerful statement of intent from a young producer with plenty to offer the scene. The LP is out on Feb 14th; hit up Beatport to pre-order the album now.
Premiere: Other Spectrum – So Close
Russian imprint Citate forms are back with a new EP this month from Other Spectrum, and we’ve got the premiere of So Close for you today. Closing his new Tam Kangana EP on a minimal vibe, this one is all about the subtle use of melodies and soft percussion; blissful stuff. Check it out and watch out for the EP coming Feb 15th at all good stores.
Premiere: Out of Fuel – Minus 25
Out of Fuel return to Translation Recordings this month with another cracking EP of dubbed out halftime goodness and we’re hyped to present the premiere of lead track Minus 25! Check it out and watch out for the EP coming 16th Feb.
Premiere: K2T – Depths
Scottish label Detached Audio are back with the latest in their steady stream of strong releases and this time it’s label co-runner K2T at the helm. Depths sees him exploring his softer side, with mellow pads and beautiful chiming melodies layered over satisfyingly intricate percussion and warm sub bass. Lovely stuff; watch out for this coming on the Starscape EP which drops Feb 16th.
Artist Collective LP [Conspired Within]
US imprint Conspired Within Music are back with a big release this month in the form of the Artist Collective LP. Featuring tracks from many of the best names in the dark halftime game, the LP is a pretty formidable statement of intent from a group of producers who share a passion for gritty, minimal beats and bleak soundscapes.
Tracks range from militant percussive steppers courtesy of Epilleptech, through to techno infused grinders like Tobe:n’s Shinigami. There’s a few seriously hefty tracks in the pack too, such as standout number Burning from Out of Fuel & Criba – the bassline on this one will shake your foundations! Elsewhere the LP contains thoughtful and interesting new beats from the likes of Kit Curse, Medika, Akinsa and label boss Conspired Within.
We could waffle on further about the tracks on here but you’re far better off listening for yourself; rest assured you’ll find a great selection of music bound together by an emphasis on percussive precision and atmosphere. One for the heads that know…check it out and hit up the label Bandcamp store to pre-order now on CD or digital; the LP drops there Feb 9th with all other stores following on the 16th.
Premiere: Vortex – Defcon-5
Canada’s D&B supergroup Vortex return this month with a full length album for Deviant Audio, and we’ve got the exclusive on one of the LP’s highlights, Defcon-5. Blending halftime grooves with jungle-influenced production, rumbling sub bass and a tight bleep lead, this one is subtle but deadly. Look out for the whole album coming Feb 21st…serious business.
