Today’s exclusive comes from the brand new Pattern EP from Jordan Parsons aka Crypticz. Having released for Cosmic Bridge, 31 Records and Diffrent Music, Jordan is branching out on his own for this release, dropping CD, vinyl and digital exclusively via Bandcamp. Grids sees him turning out a typically deep halftime number, replete with tribal drum rhythms, rich synth work and rumbling sub bass; ultra deep vibes on this one! Samsara bring us another forward thinking EP next month as Danky hits the label for a solo artist EP, and we’ve picked up a rather tasty remix from Jake Robertz for today’s premiere! Playful percussion, deep bass vibrations and an experimental flare make this one a masterclass in slow/fast D&B riddims…sick tune! Watch out for the EP coming Jan 14th at all good stores.
Just in time for Christmas, Hex is back with the last podcast of 2018, and it’s a bit of a belter! 90 minutes of brand new music including tech smashers from Invadhertz & MISSIN, liquid rollers from Cnof & Skydata, weighty steppers from Ground & Spook and halftime melters from Fractale & Monty.

Combining jungle-tinged breakwork, techstep reese basses and a spirit of experimentation, the result is an unusual track with tons of character and depth. Look out for this dropping Dec 20th at all the usual outlets…
Dubshun delivers our final guest mix for 2018, stepping up with a mix of 100% Mask Music dubplates! Representing the dark, minimal side of halftime D&B, watch out for the label dropping it’s first releases early 2019, with beats from the likes of Eusebeia, Paracusia and of course Dubshun himself. Combining the producer’s trademark flare for sound design and heavyweight texture with techno-inflected rhythms and a catchy synth hook, this one thunders along on a pulsing tide of sub and unusual percussion. For all that we love a classic 2-step roller, one of the things that makes D&B in 2018 so exciting is the diversity of releases within the scene, and particularly those releases which blur the boundaries between what is traditionally considered “drum & bass” and other areas of electronica. So then, to the new Books LP for Detuned Transmissions…
Following on aptly from 2016’s Ensō EP for Ortem, the Station LP explores the deepest chasms of the 170 sound, working with ominous atmospherics and plodding halftime drums for a sound that owes as much to ambient, techno, industrial and noise as it does to D&B or jungle. That cross-section of influences has been melted down in some other-worldly sonic furnace, and the results are stark, ominous, bizarre and rewarding in equal measure.
From the creaking bass vibrations of halftime stomper Block1, via the throbbing textures of Endless Depths, through the biting drums of 7.7766 Gauss and out into the beatless space of Hopeless Unromantic, this album is a journey through soundscapes that while tonally dark and somewhat minimal are nonetheless rich and detailed. A desire to experiment with no consideration for the needs of the dancefloor or the DJ booth has led Books to produce a body of work designed purely for listening, and it’s all the more powerful for that focus.

Elementz of Noize returns to his own imprint for a release of more mellow material and we’re proud to present the premiere of lead track In Aether. Following on from the absolutely sublime The Grand Escape earlier this year, the new EP is full of melodic explorations at the deeper end of jungle and that couldn’t be more evident here; classic breaks, hypnotic synths and a zen-like calm pervade the track. Music for the mind, not the dancefloor…watch out for this coming to Bandcamp from Nov 30th.
