We’ve got another wicked exclusive from the Ronin Ordinance camp today and this time they’ve teamed up with another Dojo favourite as US producer Mark Kloud turns in a cracking three track EP for the Leeds-based imprint. Turn The Cycle comes from Mark’s ‘Yushan’ alias and sees him blending the atmospherics of dark halftime with a driving, techno-infused beat which propels the tune along at a surprising energy given the relatively sparse composition. Experimental riddims; yes yes. Look for this dropping April 6th.

Top 5: Samurai Breaks & Dyrekt
Samurai Breaks and Fragmented boss Dyrekt land on the latter’s label this month with a four track EP of dutty halftime goodness. To celebrate, we tracked them down and asked them for their Top 5 halftime cuts…check it out.
Premiere: David Louis – Fluid
East and West collide on today’s premiere as Toronto beatsmith David Louis lands on China’s Mettasonic imprint with a sick slice of halftime business. As we’ve come to expect from Louis there are hints of the classic jungle sound and plenty of heavyweight bass to keep the track moving along; wicked stuff. Look for this alongside three other brand new beats coming March 24th.
Premiere: Stoner – Holo
Stoner takes a break from his usual tech-edged productions to deliver a more experimental single for Dojo favourite The Dreamers, and we’ve got the exclusive on A-side Holo! Weird sound designs, unusual rhythms and a catchy chiming lead pack this one full of that eccentric character that makes the label’s output so exciting. Look for this at all good stores from March 19th…
Premiere: Levrige – Grym
Vancouver imprint Black Tuna Recordings return after a short hiatus with a new EP from Canadian production duo Levrige, and we’re hyped to have the exclusive premiere of Grym! Incorporating influences from hip-hop, trap and footwork into the halftime D&B template, this one has an infectious groove and some serious bassweight behind it. Sick! Grym drops this Friday as part of the Lemme CU EP.

Premiere: HNGVR – People Have The Power
Today’s exclusive comes from the debut release on US imprint Samsara Beats, as they open their salvo with a massive compilation entitled Syncopation. Focused on halftime D&B, juke and footwork-jungle, the label are keen to explore the more experimental end of the 170 sound and this track from label boss HNGVR definitely fits that mode! Combining slow and fast, dark and bright, energetic and chill, this is an interesting sonic beast and a compelling listen; check it out and watch for the full LP coming March 16th.
DNB Dojo Mix Series 64: Vortex
We’re hyped to welcome Canadian D&B foursome Vortex to the Dojo decks for our latest exclusive mix! With an LP dropping on Deviant Audio next week and a ton of beats in the works, the super team of Stranjah, Groves, Captivate and David Louis are set for a big 2018.
For their Dojo mix the guys have dished up a selection of 100% original material from the Vortex project and their solo aliases, including tons of cuts from the Flow State LP and a handful of dubs to boot. Sick! As always you can check out the mix via Soundcloud below or head to Youtube or iTunes to stream. You can also grab a download from Google Drive.
Premiere: Lewis James – Clash
Irish imprint Rua Sound continue their journey to the cutting edge of experimental D&B with a fresh EP from Lewis James. Clash melds a host of different influences, with soft, evocative synths on the intro giving way to darker elements as the tune drops into a weighty slab of jungle-infused halftime. Skittering drums and a big bad bassline are present and correct and the arrangement eschews the traditional “intro-verse-breakdown-verse-outro” format in favour of a gradual build and then a gradual fade, something we don’t see nearly enough of in the rigid structures of modern dance music. Watch out for the EP coming March 2nd at all good stores…
Premiere: Out of Fuel – Minus 25
Out of Fuel return to Translation Recordings this month with another cracking EP of dubbed out halftime goodness and we’re hyped to present the premiere of lead track Minus 25! Spacey echoed chords and a trippy lead melody layer with warm bass and an infectious halftime groove for a laid-back journey, apparently into the freezing cold. Check it out and watch out for the EP coming 16th Feb.
