Lockjaw – Two Suns / Suffer In Silence [Plasma]

The latest release from Melbourne’s Plasma Audio finds Lockjaw on top form, bringing two top new cuts to the table. Two Suns kicks off with a bright, uplifting build-up before dropping into a crunchy, rolling break. This one’s all in the progression; the main verse evolves constantly every few bars before descending into the bridge and the second drop drum switchups provide a level of detail often lacking in dancefloor neuro.

The ominously titled Suffer In Silence continues that trend for sonic detailing, with some superbly intricate break chopping imbuing the track with enough funk to offset the threatening bass distortions rumbling away underneath. Cracking stuff! Check out the clips below and hit up your favourite store to grab this one right now.

Minor Rain – The Resistance EP [Addictive Behaviour]

When it comes to neurofunk, Addictive Behaviour are one of our favourite labels. Between their commitment to quality vinyl releases and their talent for signing tracks that balance dancefloor chops with musicality (and avoid tearout cliche), they’re pretty much setting the bar for independent dancefloor D&B, and frankly they’re putting some of the bigger labels to shame.

Their latest effort from Minor Rain continues that fine tradition with three new cuts from Slovakia’s finest. Lead track Resistance keeps things gritty with tons of crunchy bass texture and hefty drum hits to provide a refined and detailed take on the traditional dark roller, and tasty stuff it is too.

Elsewhere on the EP Going Crazy combines some pretty “pew pew” synth lazer action with a robotic riddim and a cheeky vocal hook for the EP’s most light-hearted track. Last up, Hydra smashes the riddims up into a gloriously chaotic ensemble of beats and bass that swerves from rolling and rhythmic to angular and gnarly at will. Wicked stuff! Check out the clips below and hit up the usual stores to grab a copy on red vinyl or digital right now.

Dojo Damager: Impak – Bleeps (Insom Remix)

This week’s Damager selection comes courtesy of Danish neurofunk imprint Kill Tomorrow! Insom’s new remix of previous label favourite Bleeps flips the tune around nicely, building suspense on the intro before dropping into a hyperkinetic combo of bass, bleeps and breaks that packs both heft and that often lacking neuro element, funk. Wicked! Check out the clip below and hit up Beatport to grab this right now.

Dojo Damager: Gydra – Dystopia

We’ve got another fine Russian export in the Damager spotlight today as production trio Gydra step up to Bad Taste Recordings! EP title track Dystopia is undoubtedly our favourite track from the release, featuring a potent combination of crunchy reese bass and punchy yet funky percussion; hammering drum rolls on the first drop give way to a rolling 2-step break in the second half for a tune that will definitely mash up the dance!

Check out the full track below via the Terminal Youtube channel and watch out for Dystopia dropping via Beatport from Friday, with full release following two weeks later.

Premiere: Opex & CTB – Drive

We’ve got the scoop on another brand new track today as we present the premiere of the lead track from Step Forward Music‘s debut release. Slovakian duo Opex & CTB are on the buttons with the rolling tech groove of Drive; wicked stuff! Check out the clip below and look for the release dropping March 24th!

Dojo Damager: BSE & State of Mind – Kill That Noise

This week’s Dojo Damager comes courtesy of Black Sun Empire & State of Mind with the ferocious Kill That Noise. Taken from their brand new EP The Violent Five (which we’re guessing is a little nod to Tarantino and The Hateful Eight), KTN delivers an absolutely slamming slice of tech D&B; simple but effective bass swells and an old school rolling break backed up by a hypnotic, bleeping lead melody make this a sure fire smasher. Weighty!

Q&A – Hybris

Hybris has had a good couple of years; not everyone can boast of collaborations with Noisia, not to mention having their debut LP released on the trio’s prestigious Invisible imprint. With a new track just out on Melbourne’s Plasma Audio imprint we tracked down the Czech Tech wizard for a quick chat about his latest work, collaborating with the Dutch legends and his favourite studio snacks.
