Bristol producer Ethos is on the buttons for our latest premiere as we present an exclusive slice of jungle-tinged goodness coming soon to Silent Dust’s None60 imprint. Injustice blends floaty pads and atmospheres, vinyl crackle and satisfyingly crusty breakbeats for a slightly retro sounding track; think a pinch of LTJ Bukem crossed with the recent productions of Sully and Dead Man’s Chest and you’re close. Check it out and watch for the release dropping Oct 27th.

To celebrate the impending release of another tidy single for Silent Dust’s None60 imprint, we asked Diffrent bossman Dexta to give us the 4-1-1 on his current record box. In his own words, five essential beats…
Premiere: Oliver Yorke – Wanderer
We’ve been a big fan of Oliver Yorke’s releases over the last few years so we’re exceptionally pleased to be able to present an exclusive from his latest release for Silent Dust’s None60 imprint! Wanderer brings Yorke’s knack for eclectic sound design and detailed composition back to the table in an evolving take on gritty halftime. Heavy hitting beats and bass on the stark intro contrast with soft, spacey melodies which come to the fore as the tune progresses, and the result is a characteristically enveloping tune. One to lose yourself in…look for this very soon via the None60 Bandcamp store.

Oliver Yorke – Helion / Kali [None60]
We’ve been waiting hopefully to hear more music from Oliver Yorke since we first discovered him via his rather excellent Into The Void EP for Vandal Ltd early last year, and thankfully the intervening time hasn’t blunted his talents any.
Oliver lands on Silent Dust’s None60 imprint with two absolutely beautiful slices of deep, experimental music which push the boundaries of the 170BPM template in new and interesting directions. Helion kicks things off with a selection of enthralling melodies, cinematic synth washes and precision percussion; there’s a hint of Photek to the drums and the composition is intricate without feeling hyperactive.
Flipside Kali plays with trap-esque hat rolls and a plodding kick-snare drum pattern, but fear not, this isn’t a half-arsed take on the trendy halftime hip-hop being put about by the likes of Ivy Lab. Once again we’re treated to rich bass and fantastic synth textures set to a head nodding groove. This one has a hint of the sultry to it without getting into “sexy R&B” cliches, and that’s quite a feat in and of itself.
Essential business once again from a really talented musician; check out the clips below and hit up the None60 Bandcamp to grab this one right now.
Dexta – Minirave / The Bunker [None60]
Dexta returns to None60 with two cracking new beats. Minirave lives up to it’s name, harnessing the sounds of old school hardcore and jungle for a chopped up raved out banger.
The Bunker sees Dexta teaming up with Gaunt for another track with more than a nod to the old school. Shadow Boxing-style basslines and junglist break chops meld with Dexta’s signature production for a nice groove, and a perfect complement to the more up front A side.
As usual you’ll be able to find this on the None60 bandcamp and all the usual digital stores; watch for the release from June 22nd.
