Impish – Friday [Blendits]

Blendits are back and this time they’re bringing the liquid flavours with two new tracks from names that should be familiar to anyone who keeps an eye on the Fokuz release schedules. Impish brings a lush roller to the table in the form of Friday, combining crunchy bass and crisp beats with a cheeky selection of vocal cut-ups for a nice little outing with equal parts energy and soul.

Over on the flip production duo Soligen & Type-2 team up with vocalist Wednesday Amelia for another slick roller, amping up the melodic vibes to great effect. This one reminds me a lot of Naibu’s best work, with a great balance between the melodic elements and the tough beats and bass that drive the tune along. Check out the clips below and give the official video a watch – this one is out right now at all good digital stores.

Loz Contreras – The Nicked Technics EP

We got some sad news earlier this week – liquid producer Loz Contreras was the unfortunate victim of theft outside his flat in Leeds, and has had his Technics 1210s and mixer stolen from the boot of his car. His flatmate has started an appeal to raise the cash to buy new equipment for Loz, and the man himself has generously offered to give away an EP of his hottest dubs to anyone kind enough to chip in. If you’re looking for uplifting liquid rollers it doesn’t get much better than the tracks on offer here, so check the clips below and head to the GoFundMe page and sling Loz some cash.

Remixes Vol. 1 [Sub:mission Audio]

Sub:mission plunder their extremely healthy back catalogue to bring us four fresh remixes for the label’s ninth release. Bossman Altered Perception turns in an upbeat, rolling remix of Quatermass’s Skycity, Rush Records chieftain Colossus turns his hand to Quatermass’s Entanglement and Dead Electrics’ Connected, and Quatermass gets in on the act to close things off a crisp new flex of Dead Electrics’ Girl. Check out the clips below and grab this from Digital Tunes now!

Concord Dawn – The Fuzz EP [Uprising]

Concord Dawn brings us a hefty selection of dancefloor weapons on his latest EP, appropriately titled The Fuzz. The title track lives up to it’s name with a massive distorted bassline driving the tune along at full pelt over a backbone of rolling breaks. Scratchy follows a similar pattern, with a tearing bass and beats combo fit to destroy any dancefloor.

Falling Down heads for slightly deeper territory, relaxing the bass vibrations to give Tali’s vocal line space to breath. Trenchcoat dials it back up again, bringing us another bassline led stomper with a fuzzy low end riff reminiscent of early Upbeats material and every bit as gnarly. Head over to Beatport to pick this one up now!

As an added bonus, the man himself has cooked up a little minimix to promote the release. Check that out below!

Q&A – The Invaderz

The Invaderz have had a busy year, the highlight of which is undoubtedly their debut LP for Commercial Suicide. Showing off the trio’s varied production styles, the album covers all the different flavours of D&B from mellow liquid rollers through grimey tech business and out into full-on bangers.

To find out a bit more about the album we caught up with the gang for a quick Q&A about their creative process and how the LP came to be. Read on…

Chroma – 201 Dub / Sovereign [ProgRAM]

The latest single from ProgRAM sees production trio Chroma on fine form with two crisp new rollers. 201 Dub harnesses the spirit of Jamaican dub culture for a deep, subby roller imbued with warmth, weight and an impressive clarity on the breaks.

Sovereign changes things up, heading for brighter and more liquidy territory. This one’s got some really impressive break-chopping; time and effort have clearly been spent on getting the drums just right, and it shines through. Slightly mellower business than the previous Chroma releases but no less enjoyable – check out the clips below and grab this one exclusively at Beatport now – full release following in a couple of weeks.

Boston – Go With Me / The Little Things [Symmetry Recordings]

Symmetry Recordings welcomes a fresh new talent to the roster with a great release from Cardiff producer Boston. A side Go With Me recruits singer-songwriter Solis for an absolutely mesmerizing deep liquid roller, tinged with sorrow and feeling. The soft vocals and shimmering guitar work on this are outstanding.

Over on the flip The Little Things touches down in jazzier territory, with another rolling break and a plethora of understated guitar and sax work providing the appropriate melodic chops. A fantastic debut release from a young producer who doubtless has tons more to offer! Check out the clips below and grab this on digital from Monday October 27th.

Maduk & Nymfo – Motions EP [Fokuz Recordings]

Maduk & Nymfo’s occasional collaborations are always a treat, as anyone who checked out last year’s 12″ for Allsorts will know. Their latest work touches down on Fokuz later this month and features three top notch emotive rollers, all with one eye on the melody and the other on the dancefloor. Deep, hypnotic euphoria is the order of the day on Motions, with similar vibes on the nicely guitar embellished strains of Approaching Me.

Tatta Ganja meanwhile proves the surprise of the bunch, bringing together garagey stabs and dub horns with a jungle-tinged break for a skanking slice of dubwize business. Anyone looking for something a little less aggressive but still with plenty of bounce should look no further! Check out the clips below and watch out for this dropping on vinyl and digital from October 27th.

West – Contour Digital / The Other Side [Default Recordings]

Milton Keynes-based Default Recordings return with their 15th release from label co-runner West. Countour Digital heads straight for rolling liquid territory, with one eye on the melody and the other on the dancefloor; warm and welcoming in tone without becoming cheesy, this one should keep any set moving along nicely.

The Other Side switches the beat up and heads for deeper territory, with a soft vocal laid over a varied pallet of different sounds; spacey bass growls, echoing melody and occasional rough breaks all filter in and out of the mix. Check out the clips below and grab the beats from your favourite store now.

A Sides – Revisited [Eastside Records]

A Sides returns to his own Eastside Records imprint with a brand new LP full of rolling D&B vibes. While perhaps not the most original selections ever to grace the scene, the LP brings together a variety of styles and flavours with a general lean towards rolling dancefloor beats. Highlights come on the gangster-lean of Kool is Back, the techier edge of Swamp, and the soulful liquid of Reminisce, but doubtless everyone will find their own favourites.
