Dom & Roland – Unofficial Jah / Outta Endz [Metalheadz]

When forces as legendary as these collide, you know you’re in for a treat! Dom & Roland touches down on the mighty Metalheadz with a massive 12″ that has been tearing up the dance for months now. Unofficial Jah kicks the release off with some monstrous bass sweeps before dropping into a stomping, sub infused half-step beat that’s reminiscent of Amit’s work on recent singles like Human Warfare. Just when you’re getting comfortable Dom kicks things up into double time with a full rinse oldschool techstep beat…oooft.

Over on the B-side we’re treated to Outta Endz, a track that has seen heads bawling for the rewind time and again. Infectious and instantly memorable, the cut up vocal hook of “Straight Outta London” couldn’t resonate more with the Metalheadz crew. Watch out for this dropping on vinyl and digital from November 18th.

Komatose & Kermodo – The Grin Reaper / Can’t See [Transmission]

Transmission Audio bring us their first release from newcomers Komatose and Kermodo. The Grin Reaper on the A side kicks things off with a hefty slice of dark, warped techstep, with some serious impact on the kicks and snares.

Over on the flip Can’t See continues the trend, throwing down an infectious groove with some impressively crisp breaks. Check out the beats below and watch out for the release dropping from November 25th.

In The Mix…Special Ed & MC Lucid

Special Records head honcho and all around badman of the Scottish scene Special Ed delivers another slick mix with the vocal talents of MC Lucid. Sliding effortlessly from deep rollers to techy bangers, the mix shows exactly why Ed has been in demand as a DJ for 8 years and counting. Check it out and grab a free download below.

Terror & Hubris – Horizons / Baktum [Emotif]

Long-running label Emotif Recordings (established way back in 1995) return with their latest single from Terror & Hubris. Horizons on the A-side sounds almost like a tribute to Horizons Music, soulful pads and atmospheres combining with growling bass to create a soulful yet techy slice of D&B. Baktun sets the tone a bit darker with a heavy steppers beat and roaring, reverb drenched bass moving the track along like some great, ancient beast.

Watch out for this one dropping from November 18th.

Audio – Force of Nature [Virus]

Audio’s third LP for Virus Recordings touched down last week and predictably it’s a bit of a monster, with huge tearing tracks like Airborne and Botfly taking centre stage. In between the stompers Audio has also crafted some less predictable numbers such as the infectious melody-infused Mudshark and the gritty Carcuss featuring the vocal talents of Stapleton. Audio also indulges his obvious passion for movies by pilaging King of New York for samples on the appropriately titled Pusher, which brings to mind his excellent work on Power of Fear.

Way of the Warrior 2 LP [Shogun Audio]

After the success of 2011’s Way of the Warrior LP, Shogun return with another installment and 12 new tracks spanning the D&B spectrum. DLR brings us soulful vibes with a techy undertone and some superb percussion on Sleep Talk, and Rockwell and Joe Ford vie for position with Fourward and Mefjus to see who can turn in the dirtiest neuro belter!

Elsewhere on the LP Spectrasoul, Total Science and Technimatic serve up some smooth liquid rollers and Friction gets on the remix for Addison Groove and Sam Binga turning in a trap-infused rework of RZOR. Something for D&B heads of all tastes here. Check out the beats below and watch out for the release from November 10th.

Critical Impact & Jakes – The Illa [Clear Skyz]

Bristol producer Critical Impact teams up with the legendary MC Jakes to turn in one of the best MC led tunes the D&B scene has heard in some time. With an insistent steppers break, a grimey bassline and the smooth, laidback flows of Jakes laid over the top this is a sure fire winner; real hip-hop vibes. Watch out for this one coming out on Die’s Clear Skyz imprint from 28th October (4th Nov for the vinyl).

Digital & Spirit – Original Rockers / Redo [Phantom Audio]

The return of Digital & Spirit’s much revered Phantom Audio imprint earlier this year was met with much enthusiasm, especially given the top notch Fracture re-work of Phantom Force that sat on the A-side. Now the duo return with their first original material for the label in nearly a decade.

Original Rockers sets the tone with a huge slice of footwork infused half-step. Madcap syncopation and an infectious vocal sample sit over a weighty, dub style sub line on a tune that will doubtless be rocking dancefloors over the next few months.  Over on the flip Redo heads straight for full pelt dark jungle territory, skittering breaks on the intro giving way to a crisp, rolling beat and a classic reese in the main verse.

Check out the beats below and watch out for the release on vinyl and digital from November 4th.

Cern – Nostromo EP [Renegade Hardware]

Cern turns in his latest EP for the mighty Renegade Hardware, serving up a slice of dark, brooding techstep steeped in atmospherics. Opener Nostromo keeps the foot off the gas and the rhythms leftfield, with fantastic half-step (three-quarter step?) percussion and some great cymbal rings laid over ominous bass growls and eerie pads. Into Organism Cern brings things up to full pace with a rolling break and some twisted bassline business; the spirit of ’97 techstep brought out in 2013’s production quality.

Formless sees Cern teaming up with Russian producer Receptor for a hypnotic techno-influenced stomper that evokes memories of Raiden’s productions for Offkey. Finally When The Time Comes closes things out in style with a deep, subby roller. Not the usual hard as nails style from Hardware, but still bearing their mark of quality, this EP is one for the heads. Watch out for the release dropping on vinyl & digital from October 28th.
