Look no further: we’ve got forward-thinking innovation meets cool finesse on Lemon D’s What’s Up, from Metalheadz’s 1997 Metalheadz Boxset 1, a noticeably leftfield album from the iconic label. Lemon D has shown a knack for crafting unconventional works for much of his career, and this track is an impressive example of his originality.
This classic features an onslaught of percussive hits at all the right times and tones, demonstrating the brilliance of an experimental approach over the backdrop of techstep proficiency. Lemon D’s blending of avant-garde arrangement with jazz sounds in What’s Up produces a distinctive feel and expression; timeless and refreshing.

Locked Up Music drop their 20th release today, combining a celebration of the label’s output with some fundraising for a good cause; all proceeds will go to Love Your Hospital, a charity which fundraises for the West Sussex hospitals where Locked Up boss Section works.

When it comes to updating something as classic as Dillinja’s Hard Noize you really want a safe pair of hands, and they don’t come much safer than Charlie Break. If anyone was well placed to give the track a new lick of sonic paint it was the Symmetry boss and scene stalwart, arguably the hardest working man in D&B.
Break’s remix retains all the spirit of the original (which, incidentally, still kills over 20 years on) but adds that modern punch to the drums, plus a few tasty switchups in the bassline for extra spice. Respectful but hefty; exactly the treatment we were looking for!
The flipside is no slouch either as Break presents his own ode to the Valve sound in the form of Tubes. Pure in purpose, this one is all bassline growl and gut punching snares, bringing to mind vintage Break tracks like Too Much. Dancefloor weaponry!

Atmospheric vibes on the latest from Subplate Recordings as Exsitu & Hickupz collaborate on thoroughly moody cut Inertia. Shimmering sci-fi synths, sparse but crisp beats and plenty of sub weight; tasty stuff. Look out for the release coming May 30th!

With a 15 year career spanning releases for the likes of Med School, Subtitles, Fokuz, Spearhead and his own label Kos.Mos.Music, we jumped at the chance to get a fresh selection from a man we’ve long been fans of.
For this mix Andrey has gone in on a 100% Kos.Mos selection. Spanning everything from some of the label’s earliest releases right up to the present day and a few dubs to boot, and taking in everything from rolling liquid to amen bangers, this is a true 360 degree representation of the Kos.Mos sound.
